On this day, Jesus Christ shared the Last Supper with His disciples, where He instituted the Sacraments of the Eucharist and the Priesthood. During the meal, Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine, telling His disciples to do this in remembrance of Him. This event is the origin of the Eucharist celebrated in the Church today.
Jesus also washed the feet of His disciples, teaching them humility, love, and service. Maundy Thursday reminds us of love, sacrifice, humility, service, and the gift of the Holy Eucharist.
On Maundy Thursday, Jesus gave us the Eucharist, the priesthood, and the greatest commandment, to love one another.
