This is the day when the body of Jesus Christ lay in the tomb, and according to Christian belief, He descended into the abyss (the realm of the dead) to bring salvation to the righteous who had died before His coming.
This day is a time of silence, waiting, hope, and reflection. It reminds us that even in darkness and silence, God is still working. Before the joy of Easter comes the quiet of waiting and trusting in God’s promise.
Black Saturday teaches us that even in silence and darkness, God is working and hope is alive.
“You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead.” – Psalm 16:10
